It Takes Team Work To Run A Successful Golf Course

Christina Allsop, one of the new owners of the former Clearview Golf Club spends a great deal of time talking to Pro Shop Manager, Dave Kozak, in order to coordinate the special events and functions of groups and organizations that are planning on coming to the golf course this summer for tournaments and other activities. Mens, Ladies and Couples Nights as well as Senior Days and Junior programs are all geared up for a busy summer season. Membership has almost tripled this spring so the Pro Shop staff is being kept hopping just staying up with demand for tee times. If you want to book a tee time or discuss a tournament at Grill Marks Clearview Golf Club, just phone the Pro Shop at 897-6419.

The key to a good golf course is the maintenance staff, and Grill Marks Clearview is fortunate to have one of the finest crews in the district. Golf Course Superintendent, Peter Woitowich, on the far right, has been in the golf business for over 30 years. He is into his 4th year on the course which his father, former golf pro, Joe Woitowich, built with Henri Frappier, the original owner of the Val Caron Golf Course that opened in 1989. With him are his two greens keepers, Bobby-Joe Serre and Rob Rooke. “When you are dealing with ‘Mother Nature’ you have to be patient. This was one of the hardest winters for turf with all of the rain and freezing we had. Most of the golf courses in the area have had damage to the greens and fairways, but once the evening temperatures stay above 10 degrees and the ground warms up things will improve all over the course. Besides making sure that the tees and greens are the best they can be, this summer you will see a lot of work being done on bunkers, directional signage and cart paths. You will also see a huge improvement in the appearance of the course as we tackle some tree and underbrush concerns from the past.
It hasn’t taken long for the general public to let Christina and Tyler know that their combination of a bistro restaurant, golf course and conference centre is a perfect fit for many of their personal and business needs. “We can provide whatever you require in terms of food, space for your function, no matter what the size, and we even have a golf course for your recreational needs,” explained Christina in between one of her many phone calls. “Whatever you are planning, just call me and we will be able to help you out. Be sure to drop in for dinner and check out our Bistro Menu, Tuesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. We even offer an Express Menu at our patio “Grill Shack” just for golfers.”
