When Donna Doucette C.P.E. entered the Cambrian
College Adult Education program in 1990, she was looking for a career
which would allow her to support herself and her two young children. As
she was considering her options she was introduced to electrolysis, and
immediately “a light bulb went off in my head”, she explained with
enthusiasm. “I knew without a doubt that this was what I was meant to do
for the rest of my life! And that passion has remained with me ever since
I opened up my own business in 1991, weeks after I graduated with my
certification.”
For
the first 13 years of her practice, Donna provided electrolysis treatment
to thousands of clients who came to her to remove unwanted hair. Each
client left with a renewed zest for life and a heightened level of
self-esteem and self-confidence. “Knowing that I have made a difference
in the quality of life for so many people is extremely gratifying. It is
what I love most about this profession,” Donna commented.
When
she moved her office to Norm’s Plaza in Val Caron in March 2004, “it
was like a spiritual moment when I drove over the top of the hill and
looked out across the Valley. I knew that this was the place I wanted to
be – the place where I wanted to grow my practice. And the Valley has
been fantastic to me!”
Moving
into Norm’s Plaza also provided Donna with an opportunity to add Laser
technology as an alternative treatment method for her patients. It has
been embraced with open arms by people of all ages. “Electrolysis will
always be an excellent way of getting rid of unwanted hair from all parts
of the body,” Donna explained. “But with laser technology, I can help
clients achieve their hair reduction goals over a much shorter time period
for a considerably lower cost. For people who want things done quickly and
