Photos On Stuff

When Ray & Sue Bernstein founded Northern Sports Photography  in 1991and began taking photos of hockey, baseball and soccer teams, even in their wildest dreams, they couldn’t have imagined that in a period of only fifteen years over a quarter of a million kids would have been photographed by their company.

Today, working out of their main store in Norm’s Plaza, Ray travels all over the province providing service to over 30 leagues , many to whom he is the exclusive photographer for all of the teams in the league. Northern Sports Photography was also a proud sponsor of no less than 15 different teams during the past year, with five being from Valley East alone.

“Anyone can take a photograph, but having fun and relating to the kids is what brings out the expression in their faces. This is what gives me the most satisfaction and keeps my passion for this profession alive,” explained Ray Bernstein when asked what he feels separates him from other photographers.

Ray has often been challenged to come up with many creative ways of displaying his photos. Some have wanted photos on hockey pucks; plaques; dog tags; cups; clothing; pillows; quilts; you name it! As a result, Ray and his staff of seven now offer not only the traditional photo in all kinds of sizes, but also over 65 individual products on which you can have your photo placed. All of his products are made in Valley East and many are on display in his shop.

As his product list grew, his customer base expanded to include many people from outside the sports environment who were simply interested in photography services. Hence, a new company was born – Photos On Stuff! In the accompanying photo, Ray is shown in his new location, the former Bay Used Books site on Lasalle Blvd. , preparing a display of “stuff” upon which photos can be placed.

Now, the complete product line offered by both Northern Sports Photography and Photos On Stuff will be readily available to people from the entire region and even beyond. New technology even enables you to send digital photos or your own creation through the web site at www.photosonstuff.com . Ray will then place the photo on the selected product and mail it back or to any other location you desire. You don’t even have to set foot in the store! And yet, many local customers appreciate the fact that they can get film or digital photos processed and developed at Northern Sports Photography.  However, more and more people realize that they can do more than just put photos on paper.

“Many of the products you see are our own creation,” Ray explained. “People come in here with an idea, and we help them create a design that is unique and which will provide a lifetime of memories and conversation.”

The Lasalle Blvd location will have facilities where people can get their sports photos taken right in their on site studio. It won’t even be necessary to be on the ice to take hockey pictures. This means that parents can have photos taken of their individual children even if the team is not involved. Also, with two convenient locations, customers from all walks of life can simply drop in and discuss their options with the experienced and helpful staff. Visit the web site, call, or drop in to one of the two locations and let your imagination run wild as you decide which “stuff” upon which to place your photos.
