TEEN ADVISORY GROUP PROVIDES GREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR LOCAL TEENS IN GRADES 7 TO 12

The Greater Sudbury Public Library has announced a fantastic program for teens in grades 7 to 12. The Teen Advisory Group will meet every month as part of an informal setting over snacks to discuss what teens expect from the library. They will act as an advisory group to library staff on teen issues; they will provide feedback on teen-related library collections; and share ideas for creating, planning and participating in library programs for teens. They will also do other volunteer tasks in the library.

The group will meet the first Wednesday of the month at the Valley East Public Library located at 4100 Elmview Drive, Hanmer. The meeting will take place between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.

A similar group will meet on the last Wednesday of the month at the Main Public Library at 74 MacKenzie Street in Sudbury from 4 to 5:00 p.m.

Besides providing the library with information on how they can become more "teen friendly", this is also a great opportunity for teens to pick up some great Community Service Hours.

We are encouraging teens from Valley East to get involved in this initiative and take a leadership role in helping the library meet the needs of your friends and school mates.

If you think you can help, please contact Ginette Mallette at 673-1155, extension 205 or simply show up for the next meeting.
