Val Mazzuca Opens Biggest Radio Controlled Airstrip in Northern Ontario For Greater Sudbury Modelers

In 2003, a group of enthusiastic modelers joined together to form a Radio Controlled model aircraft club. Based on Dominion Drive in Hanmer, the group is now called the Greater Sudbury Modelers. In its first year of operation a permanent shelter was build and club members laid the biggest R/C airstrip in Northern Ontario. The airstrip is 800 feet long and 80 feet wide. The general public is always welcome to watch the pilots in action. Flying is done on most nights and weekends. Wednesday night and Sunday morning are usually reserved for training.

The Greater Sudbury Modelers set up at the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre each spring to give the general public a close look at their organization and their planes.
