The Grotto of Lourdes Shrine Redevelopment Project Is Something That Will Benefit All People In The Region

As we head into the Christmas Season 2005 searching for those special gifts to buy the people on our list who have everything, the Grotto of Lourdes Shrine Redevelopment Project may have come up with an excellent idea for you to consider.

Marina Lamoureux, shown above in front of her display at the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre, is holding a “Personal Family Stepping Stone” which will be one of hundreds lining the walkway leading from the lighted cross on the hill at the shrine to the Stations of the Cross in the center of the site which was first erected in 1907.

The entrance to the Grotto is just off Van Horne Street in Sudbury . It is situated on a hill which has one of the most spectacular views of the city that you will ever find and once the Redevelopment Project is complete in time for the celebration of the Centennial in 2007, it will become one of the most popular attractions in the entire region.

The “Personal Family Stepping Stones” are available for a donation of $100. You can have up to 25 letters carved in the 12 inch square stone and if you need more, it will only cost $2 per letter after that. Most people are putting their family names on the stones as a lasting monument that will be seen by hundreds of thousands of people who visit the site over the next several decades.

Some are purchasing the stones in memory of loved ones who have passed away. The most beautiful thing about the stones is that they are not only a lasting gift, but something that will be viewed as a very personal expression of love.

If you want any further information about purchasing one of the stones you can call Marina at 969-7583 or Marg Groulx at 675-5712. The Grotto display will be set up again in the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre during the New Year.
