Standing up for you and your family To serve constituents living in Nickel Belt and especially all the Greater Sudbury communities that are part of Nickel Belt, federal MP Claude Gravelle has one of his two riding offices in Val Caron. Claude’s office is located at 2945 HWY/ROUTE 69N, Suite 203. A steady stream of people comes to the office to meet with Claude or his two friendly full-time staff, Ghislaine Millette and Carmen McMurray. Michelle Lavigne joins staff this summer. There are many reasons why you might find the MP office useful for your needs. First, with all the government cuts to northern offices and less direct contact with the public, people appreciate the personal help to access federal government services. Those government forms can be complicated. Government bureaucracy at times does not make these services as accessible as they should be. Second, the MP and staff have a direct MP office phone line to government departments. This is not otherwise available to the general public. Third, the MP and staff are able to do follow up phone calls or other contact with the right government department should that be necessary. Un grand nombre des citoyens se présentent au bureau de Claude pour le rencontrer, lui ou les deux membres de son personnel, Ghislaine Millette et Carmen McMurray. Cet été, Michelle Lavigne se joindra à l’équipe. Vous trouverez utile le bureau de ce député pour plusieurs raisons. Tout d’abord, étant donné la réduction du nombre de bureaux gouvernementaux dans le Nord, ce qui réduit le contact direct avec le public, vous trouverez à ce bureau une aide personnalisée pour accéder aux services gouvernementaux fédéraux. Les formulaires donnant accès aux services gouvernementaux peuvent être compliqués. Les services de la bureaucratie sont parfois difficiles d’accès. Deuxièmement, le député et son personnel on un accès téléphonique direct aux ministères fédéraux. Cela n’est pas le cas pour le public en général. Troisièmement, le député et son personnel peuvent au besoin assurer un suivi téléphonique auprès des ministères.

ABOUT CLAUDE GRAVELLE MP

Claude Gravelle became Nickel Belt’s federal MP in 2008.

He was re-elected in 2011.

Claude is the NDP Mining Critic.

Before his election as a MP, Claude worked for 34 years at Inco and brought up his family in Nickel Belt. He is married to Marie-Claire, and has two adult children and two grand-children.

Claude’s past experiences include:

•FedNor critic for the NDP

•Natural Resources critic for the NDP

•Town Councillor for Rayside-Balfour from 1997 to 2000;

•Director of the Community Health Care Centre;

•Vice President Board of Populaire Vermillion;

•Co-founder of the Rayside-Balfour Community Action Network;

•Past Vice Chair of the Rayside-Balfour Youth Action Network in which he served 10 years;

•Secretary of the Family Hockey Tournament Fund Raising Committee;

•Chaired the Citizens' Police Advisory Committee;

•Member of the Greater City of Sudbury Committee of Adjustment;

•Past Director of Rayside-Balfour Minor Hockey and the Ontario National Training Centre;

•Worked in successful election campaigns for Shelley Martel, Floyd Laughren, Elie Martel and Blaine Morin;

•For four years chaired the Political Action committee of USWA local 6500.
