Marcel Dufresne Turns Willow Branches Into Works of Art

When Hanmer’s Marcel Dufresne retired from INCO five years ago, he decided that he wanted to keep himself busy. So he began collecting willow branches from the bush and turning them into furniture. Some of his work was on display as part of the Art On The Trail exhibit during the Valley Roads Country Tour. Lise Dufresne, is shown in the photo showing visitors the sturdy chairs that her father has put together. He uses swamp willow to create twig furniture which includes chairs, loveseats, tables, baskets and anything else that people want made to order. Lise adds her touch to the business with her folkart creations, such as the birdhouse on the table. Visitors were impressed with the workmanship of the furniture and the strength that the willow provides. For more information contact Marcel at 969-8358.
