2nd Annual Beaver Creek Herb Fair

Patti Desjardins gives a presentation on various herbs to some of the hundreds of visitors who attended the 2nd Annual Beaver Creek Herb Fair at the Beaver Creek Herb Gardens located on Dominion Drive in Hanmer. The main purpose of the event is to help increase public awareness of the many healthy living choices which exist today through proper food and holistic methods.

According to Desjardins, "There are a lot of wonderful things out there that a lot of people don’t know about. We are very happy to be able to provide so many people with an opportunity to learn in a relaxing country setting."

Several local organizations set up information booths during the Herb Fair. Aromatherapy demonstrations were made by Nu-Wave Aromatix; product explanations were made by representatives from The Herb Hut, located in the Hanmer Valley Shopping Centre; Vinegar-On-The-Rocks showed how to make gourmet meals with herbs; the Sudbury Horticultural Society had their Sudbury Master Gardeners on hand to answer questions; Carol Beacon from Beacon Hypnotherapy was available to demonstrate how hypnosis is used for therapeutic purposes; and representatives from the Community Food Advisory had a display set up.

Several hundred people attended the Herb Fair during a beautiful afternoon. The weather couldn’t have been more co-operative. The children were also treated to pony rides and face painting. All-in-all it was a great day to learn what can be done in this day and age to use natural products to improve one’s quality of life.
