Plenty to Celebrate During Year End Soccer Playoffs

The soccer complex at the Recreation Centre was the focal point for over 1100 players on 66 teams as the Valley East Soccer Club held its annual playoff weekend on August 19 & 20. Coaches Gisele Haines, Sue Beaudry and their Under-8 Coed Technatronics Club celebrate with water balloons, squirt guns and high fives following their gold medal victory over Teaser’s Hairstyling. They were one of the eleven teams to take home gold, but all 1100 players left with at least a participation medal to commemorate one of the most successful soccer seasons ever in Valley East.

Special thanks went out to Moncion’s Your Independent Grocer for their ongoing generous donations. Due to Linda and Marcel Moncion’s commitment to the Valley East Soccer Club, events such as the playoff tournament prove to be a major source of fundraising for the club. Thanks also went out to Tim Horton’s for sponsoring the Under 6 Dividions and all individual team sponsors who have made the season such a success. Thanks also to Norstar Gas Bar in Val Caron and Ecowater for their contributions. The Valley East Soccer Club also extends its sincere appreciation and recognition to all convenors, coaches and volunteers who donate countless hours of their time to help in every facet of the club’s operation.

The City of Valley East is to be commended for the excellent field conditions and maintenance. Toppers Pizza catered the banquet and medal presentations which were held on the field under canope tents Sunday evening.
