Extra Innings Needed To Decide Last Chance Tournament

Luke Delarosbil, of Team Connexion demonstrates the style that kept most hitters at bay all weekend long during the Valley East Mens’ Slo-Pitch Labatt’s Last Chance Tournament held recently. Team Connexion and Team Worth met once again in the ‘A’ Division finals of the competition and didn’t disappoint the fans. Connexion jumped into a three run lead in the top of the 7th inning only to have Team Worth tie things up in the bottom and force extra innings. A three-run homer in the bottom of the 8th proved to be the margin of victory for Auto Depot/Team Worth who ended on top of the 14 to 11 battle of the two top teams in the district.

Other division winners included: Express Plus over King Sports in the ‘B’ Division. It was Bristol Machines defeating Tailgate Charlies to take the ‘C’ title. Hanmer Bowl downed Subway to win the ‘D’ championship. In the popular Recreation Division, Nickel City Hotel downed Team Jones to take the top honours.

A total of 22 teams took part in the tournament which has become known as the last chance for players to enjoy their favourite summer sport. Both Team Connexion and Team Worth were warming up for trips to the Provincial Championships the following weekend in Niagara Falls.
