Celebration of Community Spirit This Weekend During Valley East Days

Once again we have come to the end of summer and to mark the end of this short season residents of our great community will come together for one of the most significant events of the year - Valley East Days!

Valley East Days will be held from Friday, September 8 to Sunday, September 10, at the Centennial Arena in Hanmer. It is an opportunity for people of all ages to take part in a wide variety of activities, visit displays from many businesses and services during the trade show, and just have some good old-fashioned community-spirit fun.

Valley East Days is a celebration of our community. It is a time to reflect, with extreme pride, on our accomplishments and to ponder our future as we enter into a new era under the umbrella of the Greater City of Sudbury. It can even become a spingboard for embarking on the road towards personal goals which will enable us to become better citizens and take an active part in the development of our community. When we become part of the Greater City of Sudbury, we will have to work even harder to maintain our distinct identity. We will all have to pitch in and show the rest of the region that Valley East makes a big difference in this area.

Yes, this weekend is much more than a three-day festival of entertainment and food. It is a new beginning! It is a celebration of life itself as we know it in Valley East. The Lion’s Club and a number of other service organizations have put many, many months of preparation into Valley East Days. Show these volunteers how much you appreciate their hard work by visiting the Centennial Arena and park this weekend to take part in the celebration with your neighbours and friends.
