Don't Miss The Event Of The Year "Cinderella The True Story"

Cinderella.jpg (84135 bytes)The cast has been rehearsing since February 12, and tomorrow, April 26, they finally get to see everything come together when they do a complete run through of "Cinderella The True Story".

The Valley East Community Theatre Group is to be commended for what it has done in just three seasons. As Tony Skopyk directs his first play, he is extremely pleased with the efforts of his crew.

"It has been everything I hoped for and more," explained Skopyk. "To work with real people from the community and have them perform totally out of character to develop a vision that I have tried to get them to see has been a remarkably rewarding experience. I am sure audience members of all ages will truly enjoy this performance. Young children will recognize the story of Cinderella, but adults will also find it most entertaining."

During one of their practice sessions, Britney, one of the three "Ugly Step Sisters played by Ron Huneault, is seduced by Prince Charming, played by Greg Deschamps. Watching the display of affection is none other than Lord Chamberland, played by Phil Poirier.

The costume design and tailoring was all done by Ann Pelland.

With a cast of 22 and support staff swelling the total involvement to over 40 people, Tony Skopyk has certainly had his hands full co-ordinating all activities so that they all come together tomorrow.

"We practice in bits and pieces," explained Skopyk. "Tomorrow will be the first time we put it all together and see the two hours from start to finish. We’ll have about three other rehearsals to get everything timed perfectly and flowing properly before our dress rehearsal which is scheduled for May 7."

Skopyk added, "We have to remember that everyone involved with this play are ordinary community members. Very few have ever had stage experience, but they have a phenomenal amount of enthusiasm and are going to give the audience two hours of tremendous slapstick entertainment."

Following the dress rehearsal, performances will be held at Confederation Secondary School from May 9 to 12 and from May 14 to 16.

Tickets can be obtained from Valley Plaza Pharmacy, the Val Caron IDA and from The Vision Paper.
