Northern Exposure Captures 1st Annual Team Connexion
Ladies Volleyball Classic
 The
1st Annual Team Connexion Ladies Volleyball Classic is
history, with Northern Exposure, a club team from Sudbury taking top
honours in the Competitive Division. The team, shown in the accompanying
photo, consists of: Kathy Sutton, Erin Sipe, Wendy Coutts, Christal
Larocque, Andrea Sorcinelli, Melanie Dussiaume, Stacey Madigan and
Krista Sorcinelli.
Northern Exposure
finished the day undefeated when they downed ‘The Valley Girls” in
two straight games in the finals. The Valley Girls had to go three very
tough games to down “Anita Beer” in the semi-finals to qualify for
the championship game.
“The Girls”
edged out “The Renegades” to take the Recreation Division title.
A total of six
teams took part in the one-day tournament which was sponsored by Sudbury
Easton Connexion, the defending Northern Ontario Men’s ‘B’
Slo-Pitch Champions. The club will be competing at the ‘A’
Level during the 2001 season, playing against similarly ranked teams
from Southern Ontario in preparation for a run at the Provincial ‘A’
championships in September. They have also qualified to compete in the
National ‘B’ Championships which are being held in Niagara Falls
during the long weekend in August.
