Notre Dame du Rosaire Finishes in 2nd Place At Annual Angels Basketball Classic

Notre Dame du Rosaire players get some quick instructions during a time-out in the championship game against Algonquin Tigers at the 3rd Annual Angels Boys Basketball Classic held at St. Anne School on February 16 and 17. Algonquin went on to win the contest by a score of 35 to 22 to take the title.

Notre Dame du Rosaire had defeated Landsdowne 29 to 12 and host St. Anne 36 to 31 to get into the finals.

Notre Dame (Hanmer) won the Consolation Championship by virtue of their 32 to 30 victory over Landsdowne.

Nova Force Award Winners were selected from each team in the tournament. These players included: Scott Lavigne (Algonquin); Neil Petrin (Landsdowne); Scott Ralijarvi (St. David); Serge Robillard (Notre Dame du Rosaire); Ryan McFadden (St. Anne); Alex Mackenzie (Notre Dame Hanmer); Drew Essensa (Larchwood); and Kerry Mui (St. Francis).

The Spirit of the Lion Heart Award went to Logan Bale of Algonquin. The Xcaliber Sportsmanship Award was given to Brad Leduc of Landsdowne. In the Free Throw Competition, Ryan McFadden edged out Kyle Jackson for the title. Both McFadden and Jackson are from St. Anne School.

Members of the Algonquin Tigers included: Garnet Harper, Noey Suban, Andrew Hawkins, Nick Caswell, Darren Facione, Ben Puchek, Logan Bale, Brandon Allen, Mike Heino, Scott Lavigne, Dan Beltrane and Wade Hotti.

Members of the Consolation Champion Notre Dame (Hanmer) included: Herve Metuba, Jesse Legault, Robert Deschamps, Serge Belanger, Brian Beskonwany, Alex Mackenzie, Matthew Brule, Alex Boudreau and David Dupuis.
