Re: Your article, "Every Decision You Make..."
I made a decision in January 2006 to put up a puppy barrier within our home and like your article stated, I did meet some great people as a result...an orthopedic surgeon; some wonderful nurses; three ambulance workers, and; a nice physiotherapist. And to top it all off, I now have a nice new stainless steel shoulder.
Sandy Kelly
P.S. All puppy barriers should be at least waist-high!! Not trip-high!

EDITORIAL OF THE WEEK
by Robert Kirwan

The Small Things You Do For Others Can Leave a Lifetime Impression
The least, little courtesy, the simplest, kind word, perhaps a bit of time spent "just being there," or even, I suppose, the most fleeting, careless kindness, like fixing a wheel for a stranger could be a gesture that someone else remembers for the rest of his or her life.

2006 ELECTION ISSUES

A special section of Valley East Today has been developed to highlight the major issues which are of concern to local residents as we head into the 2006 Municipal Elections. A new issue or two will be added every week until the election is upon us. This will help residents search for answers and determine who to vote for on November 13, 2006.

FEATURE ELECTION ISSUE OF THE WEEK

Councillors Must Remember That They Represent & Speak On Behalf Of The Constituents of their Individual Ward.
Each City Councillor is elected to represent a single ward. If I am elected to serve Ward 6 - Hanmer & Val Therese, I clearly understand that I am to be the voice of my constituents at City Council. The only person on City Council who can say that he represents all of the people in the city is the Mayor, who is elected at large.
