This little section of the yard came about when a friend noticed one of his neighbors had an old tub sitting behind his garage. My friend was told that the tub was destined for the dump. Well, after hearing that, I decided that there had to be a better use for an old tub, then taking up space in a dump somewhere.
I called the owner of the tub and asked if I could have it. "If you can pick it up, it's yours" I was told. One of my sons has a friend with a truck, so he called a few friends over and off they went to collect my tub. With a lot of muscle power, they carried the tub from the driveway to the back of my yard. They then dug a hole so I could bury the tub about half way. I didn't want it to be flush with the ground so it would stay cleaner longer.

Now, the time came to figure out what to line it with to keep the water in. I went into the garage and quickly discovered some old water bed liners from years earlier. Once again, I lined the tub first with a tarp, and then cut one of the water bed liners to fit. It's a testament to the water bed liners! Each liner has lasted approximately 4 years before needing to be changed. We collected more rocks, I planted the little bed around the tub and added a pump. This fountain seems to change every year. This year I have the urn flowing into a clay dish...for the birds of course.

These pictures were taken in Spring. During the summer, you can barely see the pond as the plants seem to take over.
