St. Francis is guarding the ground
level bird bath that's made out of
old patio stones and heavy duty tarp. Birds just love this bath and I've had
up to 9 species bathing at once.
They loved to use the potentilla
bushes as cover while bathing. After cutting the bushes down, they must
fly further to preen themselves.

I had 4 old potentilla bushes that were dying. In the summer of 2003 I
decided to cut them right back to see
if they would regrow. That's why the need for all those bark chips. The potentilla had been 6' across. Luckily, they did grow back and I'll soon have
no need for the patio stones and
bark chips.

This is two parts of two different bird baths/fountains. They work out
nicely together and it's a quiet corner
for the shyer birds to drink.

Wanting something "different" to
use as a fountain, I ended up trying
a plastic watering can about 6 years
ago.  It was a keeper and I get many comments on it.

A wide shot of one end of my
main perennial flower bed -
looking south east.

The other end of the same
perennial bed. This looks towards my main pond.
