                    Soda   Bread |
4 cups sifted flour1/4 cup sugar
 1 teaspoon salt
 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 tablespoon caraway seeds if desired
 2 cups raisins
 1/4 cup butter
 1 1/3 cups buttermilk
 1 egg
 1 teaspoon baking soda

Sift the flour, measure and add the sugar,
salt and baking powder. Blend in the butter. Add baking soda to
the buttermilk, then add the beaten egg and add to the dry
ingredients quickly. Knead gently to form a round loaf. Cut cross
in the top with a sharp knife and place in a lightly greased cake
pan. Bake in a 360 degree oven for about 50 minutes. Bread is done
when a skewer inserted in center comes out clean and dry. Cool in
the pan for 10 minutes before turning out.

                  | | Crab and Artichoke
                    Dip | |

              1/2 cup mayonnaise

              1/2 cup sour cream

1 can (14 oz) artichoke hearts

              1/8 tsp hot pepper sauce

              1/2 cup grated parmesan

meat of one cooked crab (or use the imitation like I do...easier
              and cheaper)

Drain and chop the artichoke hearts.  Mix all the ingredients
              together.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes.
